The main objective of the WBO Museum is to narrate the stories, paths, life and work experiences of workers and companies involved in co-operative regeneration processes (Workers Buy Out) and the communities where these processes have developed.
By interweaving the history of the companies involved in the WBOs with the lives of the workers, who become protagonists of the regenerated co-operative, we will cross various places in our region, different business realities and productive sectors.
Different realities, but united by the fact that they have become co-operative entities, the result of the participation of workers who have chosen to defend the existence of their company, their work and, in some cases, have chosen to rethink the entrepreneurial and productive model in depth.
The Museum collects the individual experiences of the workers, their emotions and fears, their choices and reactions in response to a moment of economic difficulty.
These experiences are intertwined with the historical and political roots at the basis of this collective economic model. In fact, each WBO story is part of a wider narrative about the origins and transformations of the co-operative movement in Emilia-Romagna.
The individual stories we have collected tell us about crises and failures from which it is possible to start again.
Workers who become entrepreneurs and companies who transform themselves to safeguard the dignity of the work and of the communities in the area.
It is these stories of work and commitment, the emotions of their protagonists, that generate an innovative museum space, which speaks above all of co-operation and solidarity.
